Can I have a side of Tabasco sauce with that?

|
Gosh this makes me sounds like a complete couch potato BUT, I was watching Dr. Oz the other day, see if I say the other day..it makes it sound like I dont watch it EVERYDAY...which is what I really do!! Gosh...ok thats beside the point I'm trying to make!

As I was saying before I got totally caught up in my couch potato ways is, Tabasco sauce can actually raise your metabolism for up to 2 hours after eating it which of course will help you burn calories!!

Chilli's in general help to raise your metabolism. Of course you cant have chilli's and Tabasco sauce with EVERY meal ( well I probably could...just a tiny bit addicted to chilli's), but hey a little bit will help so next time you sit down to eat your veggie delight thin crust home made pizza...or whatever, chuck some Tabasco sauce on it!!! This is of course one of my fave dishes Mmmmmmmm

Hello lunch...ready for your photo shoot? Pose.

Consider yourself a healthy eater? Think you eat enough of the 'right' foods?

Well maybe you do, or maybe you need to think again.

Heres how to find out exactly what you're eating over the week...you may be shocked by how bad you are, you may find out that you're actually an awesome eater...whatever you find out, this is going to be a fun and interesting task for the week if you choose to try it out!

What I want you to do, is turn every meal or snack into a photo shoot. Yes thats what I said, a photo shoot. What do I mean by this? Well, I want you to get snaps of everything you're eating...put them into a folder on your computer for you to refer back to when the week is complete. You'll probably see things you'll want to change about your diet, perhaps you dont eat enough fruit (I for one am guilty of this), or maybe not enough veggies or fiber.

I dont want you to continue to take pictures of your food, but learn from the weeks photos and aim to add the things you're missing from your diet into your everyday meals and snacks...

Pretty simple, have fun with it girls & guys!!!

These things happen

|
Crap!

Today I totally fell off the wagon, I fell HARD!!!

Not to worry tho~ These things happen..and the sooner you & I come to grips with the reality that we're probably going to have a bad day whilst trying to lose weight, the better you'll feel about it when it happens.

There is NO POINT stressing so much that you give yourself guilt and anxiety...take it as your cheat day and get back on track the next day...you'll be fine for another week or so, no sweat!

I did fall off the wagon in the best way possible...well when it came to lunch at least! I got a whopper junior from BK with small fries and a diet coke...not too bad if you think about what I could have ordered!! I would normally have up sized the crap out of that combo...but I didn't.

Dinner was meant to be a super healthy ginger pork on salad..but we had some car dramas and by the time it was sorted we were all starved...(baby included) so we fast fooded it again...crap, but nevermind! Sometimes you gotta take one for the team..especially when the baby is hungry!

On the flip side I drank PLENTY of green tea and had porridge made with water for breakfast...pretty awesome.

Bring on tomorrow!! Will behave myself, dont you worry!

Heres a funny pic for your entertainment!

Miso in love!

|
I absolutely love drinking miso soup...I buy little sachets of the paste from the supermarket so I can have it whenever I want! How convenient!

Miso is pretty good for you...even if it's fairly high in sodium, it still has loads of goodness for your body and as a snack can help you lose weight.

I dont just love miso for its health benefits, but for its GREAT taste! Its perfect for those cold winter months, just empty a sachet of the paste into your fave mug..add boiled water and away you go....so delicious and nutritious, you cant really go wrong with this one.

Miso soup is high in B12. How can B12 help me you say? Well B12 can help speed up your bodies metabolic rate giving you the energy you need to burn fat and also give you the energy boost you may be lacking for exercise.

You could also help your body in its fight to keep breast cancer away by drinking miso soup, as we all know soybean has been proven to help in this department.

Its also full of antioxidants and Vitamin E, while the wakame seaweed can help to lower blood pressure!

Super food or what?!

Get sipping!!

You can still eat Junkfood...Here's how..

|
Can I eat junk food and STILL loose weight?

PERHAPS!! I've been ready a few weight loss blogs...and it seems if you're a real junk food junkie, there are ways to still enjoy your junk without the junk in the trunk!

So next time you order a combo, get the person behind the counter to split your meal in half....that means you eat half there and then, and take the other half home with you to eat 3-4 hours later! Amazingly enough you will store less bodyfat and even increase your metabolism eating like this....WHO KNEW!?!

So next time you just cant resist the urge...go for it..but remember...HALF your combo! It really is just the little things....

Celebrate!

|
I have to celebrate 'just' a little today.

Why you ask?

Because somehow by the power of baby jesus himself, I managed to fit into a pair of XS jeans at Supre!!!

How this happened, is beyond me...but it happened and for that I am celebrating...could it be that drinking grapefruit juice, and green tea...and eating healthy food might be working??!! Well I can only hope....I must buy those scales soon tho as I want some hard figures!

Today I had toast for breakfast with a pot of green tea.
Lunch consisted of a 6 inch ham sub from subway with all the veggies and honey mustard sauce. Washed down with a diet coke.
I snacked on almonds and water during the day at work...yay
Dinner was ginger pork stirfy on a bed of salad leaves!!

Today was a good day all round, soooo....

GO ME!!!

Can grapefruit REALLY make me skinny?

|
Wellllllll...I've been doing a little bit of reading on the internet about the benefits of grapefruit and how it can help you to lose weight, yes thats right!! There seems to be a good following with this one, it seems to be working for some people out there, maybe this can work for me..or you too!!

I'm giving this a go...I'm not on the pill so why the hell not try it out ay! Apparently I'm spose to drink grapefruit juice or have half a grapefruit with every meal (these meals should be normal meals, not junkfood I guess) and see how much weight I can actually lose.

I have high hopes and will let you know how I go with this one..If it works for me, it may work for you...this could just be the secret!

Check out this link: http://thyroid.about.com/b/2004/02/19/grapefruit-and-weight-loss-the-grapefruit-diet-is-alive-and-well.htm

Fingers crossed! I'm off to buy a carton of grapefruit juice!!

For the Love of Green Tea

|
I am a FIRM believer in the amazing properties of green tea, I've been drinking the stuff ever since Dr. Oz told the world about its many benefits on the Oprah show...that was god knows how many years ago...and I am still drinking it to this day.

Its rich in antioxidants, and can aid in weight loss, SCORE! I personally feel that when I drink green tea, I am more alert, feel cleansed, and just healthier overall really.

Its always helped me to lose weight in the past, according to Dr. Oz...5 cups or more a day will help you to shift the pounds (when one is also watching their food). So its no surprise that I'm drinking as much of it as I possibly can each day!

I will always recommend it to others, its up to you if you take my word for it or not. Give it a go!!

My ONE vice in life

|
I'm a fanatical Diet Coke drinker...I could live off the stuff if deserted on a desert island. My one concern isnt whether or not its giving me cancer...but if it hindering my weight loss around my bum and thighs...?

I have been thinking about quitting it, and drinking soda water (yuck) for a wee while now...just cant seem to bring myself to take the leap...its SCARY!!

My diet coke drinking began 8 years ago...back in 7th Form. I managed to drop loads of weight just switching to diet coke from regular coke. So I've had this 'love' for diet coke ever since. I've always thought of it being good for me, at least better for me than normal soft drinks...right? Who knows.

I cant guarantee I'll stop drinking it, but all good things do come to an end I guess...watch this space.

Roadtrips are HELL for your 'Health Kick'

|
OK....so not only are you sitting on your ass for the most part during a roadtrip...but you're also eating junkfood.

I hadn't even left Invercargill before I was shoveling a Cookie time cookie down my throat...IT WAS YUMMY!!!...But naughty.

I managed to steer clear of the cornchips...ok, so I had a couple...I'm only human!!!!

Dont judge me!

Lunch consisted of chicken schnitzel..with a totally healthy salad..too bad it also came with hot chips and cheese melted ontop! eep. It was yum. SO.....that was a pretty bad start to the 'healthy kick' and I'll have to drink a fuck ton of green tea tomorrow to make me feel better.

Tonights dinner is falafel and tabbouleh salad, yum.

I'm currently drinking the pot of green tea I forgot to drink this morning...cold green tea...now THATS dedication.

Friday Happenings

|
Today was a massive day at work...but I managed to eat very well throughout the day! Tonight its Friday night, so naturally...following in my tradition...I had takeout and watched ANTM with a glass of wine...

SO...now that all the 'bad stuff' is out of my system (I dont even feel guilty about it as I ate so well during the day...snacking on almonds, green tea and having a tuna sub from subway for lunch...with low fat sauce) I am happy to go into the weekend with a healthy twist on life~~

The Rules

|
Soooo....I am not gonna place all these insane rules upon myself..I do want to sustain some sort of happiness during all this, so I'll just hammer out a few basic 'common knowledge' rules.

Rule No.1

Fast food is only allowed to be consumed ONCE each week...and no this doesn't mean I can buy myself 10 burgers and gorge myself on them...keep it within the non obese person portions...

Rule No.2

NEVER EVER skip breakfast...I dont tend to skip breakfast ever anyways, but just for you all to know, this will not be missed...

Rule No.3

Carbs are only allowed with dinner 2x per week...this INCLUDES the fast food night.

Rule No.4

Drink HEAPS of green tea...minimum of one elephant teapot per day...Always aim for more.

Rule No.5

Exercise must be done 5 days a week...can be whatever so long as I do SOMETHING...

Rule No.6

Dont break the rules...

Also.....drink HEAPS & HEAPS of H2O

Laying It All Out

|
So I decided to document my weight loss in a blog...as a kind of motivational tool for myself...I figured if I put it all out there, I'd be cheating myself to not follow through with what I write. And all of you could see it.

So I need to buy a set of scales...I dont really use scales, but for accuracy sake I should probably have them. Will purchase these in the next few days so I know my starting weight, and can let you all know this too...eeeep!

I have never been into dieting...so I'm not about to start that now, all I want to do is make a few adjustments to my current eating and exercising and hopefully that'll be enough to do the trick!

Its not like I'm a fatty, I'm petite but just abit rounder than I'd like to be so dont expect anything majorly drastic...just support me along the way :)

So...I'll be doing Zumba as my main exercise as it's winter here...and bloody freezing! But I will do my best to get out for a few jogs...no guarantee's tho, OK. And i'll be getting into Yoga and just general press up's etc.

I'm making green tea the main drink each day..I find when I drink green tea, I drink less diet coke..which has got to be good for me too.

My GOAL weight is going to be 55kg's. Wish me luck! x
